Reflexology uses alternating pressure on reflex areas on the hands and feet that correspond to body parts. It is sometimes used in conjunction with other modalities, such as massage and aromatherapy.

For an annoying callous that appears on the foot as a result of friction and poorly fitting shoes, Mugaas recommends seeing a podiatrist and walking on the beach. “Walking on sand stimulates the reflex areas on the bottom of the feet,” she notes. “But avoid walking on uneven sand, which is hard on the hips.”
