Natural Awakenings Naples and Fort Myers

Kudos September 2012

For the second straight year, Hammond Stadium, in Fort Myers, has been honored by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals as the most vegetarian-friendly ballpark in the country. The facility is home to the Fort Myers Miracle minor league baseball team and the Minnesota Twins during spring training.

The stadium’s vegetarian options—including veggie burgers (with optional vegan cheese), veggie tacos, veggie dogs, a veggie Philly sandwich, a fruit-and-vegetable tray and vegetarian baked beans—are sold in a space known as the Green Room, near the team store on the second level.

“This is really only the second dedicated year that we’ve had a vegetarian menu,” says Gary Sharp, the Miracle’s promotions director. “It’s been well-received.”
