In Curl Talk: Everything You Need to Know to Love and Care for Your Curly, Kinky, Wavy or Frizzy Hair, author Ouidad Wise explains that through every revolution—French, industrial and sexual, women have beaten their curls into submission instead of allowing tresses to remain in their natural, wavy state,” says Mida, who recently opened a new studio, H&M Hair Salon, in Naples,

Throughout the centuries, the secret to curly hair obedience has been a wide range of salves, irons and rollers that reshaped every strand, either flattening natural curls or creating artificial ones. While Marie Antoinette started the craze with the painstakingly perfect ringlet, the hairstyles of today’s television and movie starlets such as Debra Messing, Nicole Kidman and Julia Louis-Dreyfus have put an end to it. These beauties proudly show off their curls in different styles, perhaps thanks to the knowledge and expertise of Quidad, who teaches and certifies other stylists such as Mida.

Trained and certified in 2007 by Quidad, known as the “queen of curl”, Mida previously worked for 12 years at Salon Zenergy, in Naples. “I love cutting curly hair because it is lively and fun, with a life and personality of its own. I love making women feel as if their curls are a gift,” quips Mida, whose experience has taught her that every curl is unique, with its own distinctive needs. “As a Ouidad-certified stylist, I understand how to cut and style curly hair with the curve and slicing technique at the curvature of the curl pattern. The result is all defined curls that fall gently into each other like puzzle pieces, encouraging curl definition and creating more manageable hair.”

Mida helps women understand their curl type and keep their hair healthy, with no bulk or frizz, by directing them to the right products. “With the right curving and slicing cutting technique, and the signature rake-and-shake styling method, women leave my salon with beautiful, curly hair that they are delighted with,” she advises.

Mida is Vidal Sassoon-trained and organic color certified. Her new salon is also Quidad-certified.

H&M Hair Salon is located in the Heritage Court Plaza, 5020 Tamiami Tr. N. Ste. 102, in Naples. To make an appointment call 239-298-2569. For more information, email [email protected].
