Individuals in Collier County are forming a local chapter of World Beyond War (WorldBeyondWar.org). “We are recognizing the urgency for action to stop the U.S. military-industrial complex from dragging our country into a war with Iran that could potentially engulf the entire region and quickly turn into a global conflict with unpredictable consequences, even escalating into nuclear war. World Beyond War globally promotes a nonviolent movement to end war and establish a just and sustainable peace.

“Now is the time for action from all individuals that believe in peace and who are opposed to yet another catastrophic war,” says Dianne Rhodes, a local activist who notes that non-violet action is necessary now. “Our aim is to create awareness of support for ending war and to advance the idea of not just preventing any particular war, but also to abolish the entire institution. War and conflict will not end on its own; it needs to be confronted by popular resistance. Our local chapter, along with other chapters in the U.S. and around the world, will strive to replace a culture of war with one of peace, in which nonviolent means of conflict resolution take the place of bloodshed.”
