Continuing education courses that enhance her expertise with the latest acupuncture techniques give Mary Lambert—a board-certified acupuncture physician and co-owner of Lambert Wellness Center—a competitive edge. Her most recent educational pursuits in cosmetic acupuncture and homeopathic injection therapy not only proved to be excellent choices but also came with unexpected surprises that raised her eyebrows.
“Cosmetic acupuncture doesn’t just freshen the face—it benefits the whole body. As a licensed esthetician for 15 years, I was intrigued by what homeopathic injections could do for the face. The courses were available in separate places, online at Pacific Rim College in Vancouver, British Columbia, and the Sarasota Center for Acupuncture and Nutrition. I signed up,” she says.
“In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we frequently use facial diagnosis because different areas of the face correspond to different organ systems. Examining the face provides visual evidence for treatment, simply because it reflects overall health. For example, during an intake conversation, I look closely at a patient’s face. The nose corresponds to the heart, the mouth to the spleen and stomach, and the nasolabial folds to the large intestine. Dark circles and puffiness under the eyes can indicate imbalances in the kidney system. I keep all of this in mind when creating a treatment plan,” she explains.
Through experience, Lambert has found that TCM and facial acupuncture make a perfect pairing. “Many of the meridian points on the face, such as those along the nasolabial folds or marionette lines, are where we first show signs of aging. With cosmetic acupuncture, I’m not just targeting superficial concerns. While I rejuvenate the skin to create a more vibrant, youthful appearance, I’m also addressing internal imbalances. Stimulating facial meridian points helps prevent wrinkles, lifts and tones the complexion, and gives the skin a brighter look.”
Facial rejuvenation treatments and homeopathic injection therapy can improve muscle tone and dermal contraction, enhance skin elasticity, and reduce signs of aging by strengthening and stimulating the circulation of qi within the meridian pathways—particularly those in the face. “I’ve been amazed by the results. I didn’t expect such noticeable changes without surgery or Botox. The most impressive part is that the results are lasting.”
What Lambert appreciates most about cosmetic acupuncture is that it allows people to feel good about their treatments. “You’re not going to look like you’ve had a $10,000 facelift or spent hundreds on Botox. It’s like that old saying—‘only your hairdresser knows for sure.’ The bonus is your facial muscles will still move when you smile. Your face will look very natural, and you’ll look healthier and feel more beautiful,” she says.
For optimal results, a series of 10 treatments is recommended. Cosmetic acupuncture and injection therapy can be done together or separately.
