Longtime Naples resident Paul Arsenault’s Beach From Pier reflects a rhythm and pattern that distinguish his easily recognizable style of plein air painting that’s featured in his new book An Artful History of Naples and Collier County (see page 12). His lifelong pursuit to paint contemporary life in coastal communities is enhanced by his passion for history and his natural storytelling ability.

After graduating from the Art Institute of Boston in 1973, the Montreal native’s six-month stint as a deckhand on a research vessel that ended in Florida instilled a lifelong love of coastal communities and a focus for his highly distinctive artistic expertise and style.

Paintings from many subsequent international trips hang in public places and private and corporate collections around the world. His career has also been highlighted by many fundraising shows that have benefited many nonprofit organizations devoted to health, environmental protection and historic preservation.
