Natural Awakenings Naples and Fort Myers

Arsenault’s Paintings Featured in New Artful History Book

An Artful History of Naples and Collier County is a richly illustrated, 240-page, fine art book that features the works of acclaimed Naples artist Paul Arsenault—paired with vintage postcards, historic and fine art photographs, and lively narratives—that celebrates the dreamers, visionaries, personalities and pioneers that shaped the region; the iconic landmarks and glimpses of Old Florida that anchor its identity; and the history, anecdotes and folklore that capture its spirit.

Co-created by Eileen Arsenault and Donna Murphy, the book captures both major milestones and colorful surprises—from swamp buggy races to the nation’s smallest post office in Ochopee—as well as honors the region’s fragile natural wonders including the ghost orchid, Marco Island’s burrowing owls and the endangered Florida panther.

As a plein air painter, Arsenault has chronicled the community he has called home for more than 50 years. “It was one thing to come home with a painting, but to come home with a painting and a story meant it was really a successful day,” he says.

Murphy also collaborated on Paul’s book Paul Arsenault: My Journey as a Painter. Paul is also releasing Vintage Arsenault, a special series of his early works.
