Natural Awakenings Naples and Fort Myers

Three Doctors, One Shared Mission: Helping Patients Heal Beyond Symptoms

May 29, 2026 09:31AM ● By Linda Sechrist

In Southwest Florida, a growing number of physicians and healthcare practitioners are redefining what patient care looks like. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, they are asking deeper questions: Why is this happening? What is being overlooked? How can the body heal more naturally and completely?

For Dr. Waldo Amadeo, Dr. Steve Case, and Dr. Roger Pint, the answers lie in approaches that blend science, innovation, and whole-person care. Though each works in a very different specialty—functional neurology, orthobiologics, and biological dentistry—they share a common belief: patients deserve practitioners who listen carefully, think comprehensively, and help restore both health and hope.

Looking Beyond the Obvious

At his Naples-based practice, the Heal Thyself Institute, Dr. Waldo Amado spends much of his time helping patients understand the intricate connection between the brain and body.

“I’m passionate about helping people understand that many chronic struggles often have underlying neurological, structural, or functional components that are overlooked,” says Amadeo. “The body and brain are deeply connected.”

Since graduating from Life University in 2017, Amadeo has continued to expand his education in functional neurology, neurodevelopment, rehabilitation, and brain-based therapies. His fascination with the nervous system and the brain’s ability to adapt and heal has become the foundation of his practice.

What drives him most, he says, is seeing patients regain a sense of possibility after years of frustration.

“Sometimes it’s a child reaching a milestone their family has been waiting years for, or an adult finally finding answers after feeling stuck,” he explains. “Watching someone move from discouragement to hope is incredibly fulfilling.”

Amadeo believes education is a critical part of healing. By helping patients better understand their own bodies and nervous systems, he empowers them to take an active role in their recovery journey.

Offering Alternatives to Surgery

For Dr. Steven Case, years spent performing orthopedic surgery ultimately led him toward less invasive solutions.

After completing orthopedic surgery training at the San Diego Naval Medical Center and serving 16 years in the U.S. Navy, Case spent decades treating degenerative arthritis, sports injuries, and fractures through traditional orthopedic methods. Today, at Body Restore of Naples, he focuses on orthobiologic therapies including stem cells, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and peptides.

“I see the successful outcomes when these therapies are used in degenerative arthritis and sports-related injuries,” says Case. “They can help patients avoid major orthopedic surgery, long recovery times, and potential complications.”

Having witnessed both the benefits and limitations of surgery over a 30-year career, Case says advances in biologic medicine have created exciting new opportunities for patients seeking non-operative alternatives.

“The evolution of biological treatments has advanced to a level where I’m excited to offer patients a highly successful option,” he says. “Especially those who are fearful of surgery or have seen a family member experience a poor outcome.”

One of the most rewarding aspects of his work is hearing from patients months after treatment, often returning because of the relief and improved mobility they experienced the first time.

“It’s exciting when patients come back for ‘round two,’” he says with a smile.

Connecting Oral Health to Whole-Body Wellness

For Dr. Roger Pint, dentistry has evolved far beyond filling cavities and repairing teeth.

At Bonita Dental Studio, in Bonita Springs, Pint practices biological, mercury-free dentistry with a focus on the relationship between oral health and overall health.

“Many patients are looking for a dentist who will actually listen and treat the mouth as part of the whole body, not in isolation,” he says.

Pint’s path to biological dentistry was shaped by an extensive educational background that includes degrees in biology, psychology, public health, and environmental toxicology. His research once focused on removing mercury and other toxic metals from contaminated naval sites—a perspective that later influenced his approach to dentistry.

“In dental school, I was surprised to learn mercury was still being placed in teeth,” he recalls. “I had just spent years studying how to remove that same material from the environment.”

That realization ultimately led him toward biocompatible and toxicology-informed dentistry, as well as advanced training through the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology.

For Pint, the most meaningful part of his work lies in the relationships he builds with patients—particularly those who have struggled to find answers elsewhere.

“When someone comes in with a complicated health history and we work through it together and they leave healthier, that’s the reward,” he says. “Being part of the process where clarity replaces uncertainty is incredibly meaningful.”

A Common Philosophy of Care

Although their specialties differ, Amadeo, Case, and Pint share a similar philosophy: healing begins by listening closely and treating patients as individuals rather than diagnoses.

All three practitioners emphasize continuing education, evolving science, and a willingness to look beyond conventional approaches when necessary. More importantly, each sees healthcare as a partnership built on trust, education, and empowerment.

For patients navigating chronic pain, neurological challenges, injuries, or complex health concerns, that philosophy can make all the difference.

In an era where medicine often feels rushed and fragmented, these Southwest Florida doctors are helping patients rediscover something increasingly valuable in healthcare: time, attention, and hope.
