The first thing visitors notice when they step into Crystal Keys Enchanted Emporium, in Fort Myers, isn’t the sparkle of hundreds of crystals—it’s the feeling that they’ve entered a space designed for exploration. For owner Sandy Tedesco, that’s exactly the experience she hoped to create.
To Tedesco, crystals have never been simply beautiful mineral formations. They have been teachers, companions and, at times, guides along a deeply personal spiritual journey.
Tedesco first became fascinated with crystals more than 20 years ago. Drawn to their beauty and intrigued by their ancient history and metaphysical significance, she immersed herself in learning everything she could about them.
“I love everything about crystals and think they’re amazing,” says Tedesco.
Long before opening her shop, Tedesco felt there was something more to life than the physical world. She questioned the idea that life begins at birth and simply ends with death.
“The thought that we’re born, live for a while and then die never made sense to me,” she explains. “I became a seeker, exploring the metaphysical and spiritual realms to better understand the unseen world. I wasn’t satisfied with living life on the surface—I wanted to go deeper.”
Already a Reiki master experienced in energy work, the medicine wheel and shamanic journeying, Tedesco eventually combined her spiritual interests with her creativity by making crystal jewelry, amulets and wire-wrapped pendants.
“That was seven years ago, and I’ve been amazed by all the synchronicities that have happened since then,” she notes. “Call it magic, divine guidance or angelic assistance—it’s difficult to explain.”
One such experience occurred when she relocated to Southwest Florida, the house she moved into was one mile from the Church of the Spiritual Light, where Tedesco now attends services and participates in monthly holistic fairs.
“When we moved into our house, we found a candle from the Church of the Spiritual Light that had been left behind,” she recalls. “There have been so many meaningful coincidences like that. Even my shop is in Unit 6, while the church is in Unit 1.”
Tedesco credits her work with the medicine wheel, shamanic journeying and crystals with helping her heal childhood wounds and discover a deeper sense of purpose.
“Throughout everything, crystals were my allies,” she says. “Working with them every day and wire-wrapping them built my confidence. Sometimes, while creating a pendant, a particular person’s name would come into my mind. I’d post the finished piece on Facebook, and that very person would end up buying it.”
In March, a dream she’d carried for years finally became reality when she opened Crystal Keys Enchanted Emporium.
“My shop is a fun, fascinating, warm and welcoming place,” she shares. “On my website, I call myself the Head Crystal Keeper and Crystal Executive Officer because I’m all about crystals—raw and tumbled stones, gemstones, minerals, carved specimens, jewelry, orgonite, artwork and crystal-inspired gifts. I joke that I talk to rocks, and they talk back.”
More than a retail store, the shop was designed as an interactive gallery where visitors are encouraged to slow down, handle the stones and discover which crystals resonate with them. A tea set is always ready for anyone who would like to sit, enjoy a cup of tea and talk about crystals.
In addition to its extensive crystal collection, the shop offers 15-minute sessions on an amethyst and tourmaline BioMat, which uses far-infrared heat and negative ions to promote relaxation and support the body’s natural restorative processes.
Whether visitors come searching for a specific crystal, a meaningful gift or simply out of curiosity, Tedesco hopes they leave feeling inspired and more connected—to themselves, to nature and to the unseen possibilities she believes crystals quietly represent.
