The Uptown Chemist, in Naples, has successfully completed its Florida Board of Pharmacy inspection for USP <797> sterile compounding. Following the inspection, the team completed the required processes, validation and rigorous formulation testing needed before labeling vials for patients.

“It’s about having greater control over the process, maintaining the quality standards we expect, and continuing to provide the personalized care you’ve come to expect [from us],” explains founder Norman Ruiz-Castaneda, PharmD. “We’re incredibly proud to say that our first compounded weight-loss injection formulation has completed testing and is ready for patient-specific prescriptions.” Additional sterile, nonhazardous compounds are currently in formulation and testing.

This milestone expands Uptown Chemist’s in-house compounding capabilities. The family-owned pharmacy will continue to prepare customized medications for a wide range of needs, including hormone therapy, wound care, pediatrics, pain management, oncology, thyroid health, men’s and women’s health and hospice care.
